Alma Cafe | Overview

“Alma is not a name, it is not a person, it is my spirit, it is my soul, it is Melissa” Welcome to the new blog of Alma Cafe!

My name is Ana. In this space I will share with you and keep you informed of everything that happens behind and in front of Chef Melissa Araujo's kitchen. If you're here it's because, like me, you love Latin food. There is nothing like enjoying dishes where the flavors transport you to your childhood or a memory, that's the magic of Alma Café, it's homemade food.

Believe it or not, the beginnings of this restaurant were in the middle of the pandemic. Despite the obstacles, Chef Melissa pulled Alma through.

Alma Cafe's goal is to demonstrate that Honduran culture has a lot to offer. Chef Melissa, with the help of her sister Ana, tells the history of their country through their family's recipes. One of the Chef's favorite traditional Honduran dishes, La Baleada, is taken from her grandmother's recipe. Now, imagine that you are enjoying your grandmother's favorite dish, starting with that aroma that nowhere else will you have the privilege of experiencing, and the taste, not to mention, just by closing your eyes you see yourself sitting again in that kitchen where you were the happiest person... This is the experience you will have eating at Alma Cafe.

If you have not yet visited Alma, I invite you to come and delight yourself with the exquisite dishes prepared by Chef Melissa. Don't forget to follow this blog so that together we can explore and share Alma Cafe's culinary adventures, curiosities and news.
